For the past year, Floris has been working with Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo, owners of Russian River Brewing Company, to help design their much anticipated new brewery in Windsor, California. We are excited to see that the ground has been broken, making way for a brand new, state-of-the-art, 35,000-barrel brewhouse set to open in 2018.

The above site will be transformed into the new Russian River Brewery, a 35,000-barrel brewhouse located in Sonoma County, California. And yes, Pliny the Younger will be released here too!

The brewery will have some exciting new features, including:

  • Open-top fermenters from German company Gresser, which will be used to ferment ales and lagers. Russian River will be the third brewery in the U.S. to have open-top fermenters from Gresser.
  • A 12.5-square foot koelschip — a vessel that exposes the beer’s wort to ambient yeast and bacteria
  • A Cambrian EcoVolt waste water converter, a modular aerobic digester that efficiently removes 99 percent of contaminants from industrial wastewater, producing water suitable for discharge or reuse. “From an operational standpoint, it was extremely important that we be proactive about managing our wastewater at the new facility, and lay the groundwork for future water reuse.” said Vinnie Cilurzo, Co-Owner and Brewmaster.

Stay tuned for updates on the project and cheers to our friends at Russian River for breaking ground on the new brewery!
